Every FMK condition
299 diseases, deficiencies, toxicities and drug mechanisms harvested from every FMK deck — the ones sprinkled through a single bullet as much as the ones with their own slide. Pick what you're given and what you have to name, or let it cycle; distractors come from the same category so you have to discriminate (hypoketotic vs. ketotic hypoglycemia, which GSD, which urea-cycle enzyme…). Every answer shows the whole card with the lecture and slide.

MAOI–tyramine hypertensive crisis ('cheese reaction') Acquired / not inherited
Defect / target: Monoamine oxidase inhibited by MAOI antidepressants; dietary tyramine (from decarboxylation of tyrosine in aged cheese, fermented meat, beer, wine)
Mechanism: Gut/liver MAO normally destroys dietary tyramine on first pass; with MAO blocked, tyramine reaches the circulation and triggers massive norepinephrine release.
↑ Accumulates: Tyramine, norepinephrine (also serotonin escapes breakdown on MAOIs)
Presentation: Hypertensive crisis after tyramine-rich foods in a patient on an MAOI
Treatment: Avoid tyramine-rich foods on MAOIs
Cheese reaction — classic drug–food interaction
Learn the mechanism: Catecholamines, serotonin & the tyrosine tree →
