Defect / target: Complex I (NADH dehydrogenase)
Mechanism: Rotenone (pesticide) and amobarbital (barbiturate sedative) block NADH electron entry at Complex I, raising NADH/NAD⁺ and lowering ATP.
↑ Accumulates: NADH, lactate· ↓ Deficient: ATP
Presentation: pesticide/barbiturate exposure, energy failure, lactic acidosis
