Defect / target: Autoantibodies against RBC surface antigens
Mechanism: Antibody-coated RBCs are destroyed, raising unconjugated bilirubin beyond conjugation capacity.
↑ Accumulates: Unconjugated bilirubin, urobilinogen
Presentation: Hemolytic anemia, acholuric jaundice
Labs: Elevated unconjugated bilirubin, positive direct antiglobulin (Coombs) test
